I am standing for election because I believe in working to secure a cleaner environment and a fairer Australia for future generations. As a single working mother, I understand the pressures of living in Sydney. I wish to end policies that make it harder to just get by, such as putting single parents on Newstart and cuts to universities. As a long-time refugee advocate and co-founder of ChilOut, I believe we must stop putting children in detention and outsourcing our refugee obligations to our poor neighbour. This election, I am standing up for what matters.

Peter Boyle is a national co-convenor of the Socialist Alliance and has been a socialist activist since the early 1970s when he radicalised around war, race and class issues after his family migrated to Australia from Malaysia. He remains involved in solidarity work with the Bersih democracy movement in Malaysia. Peter writes regularly for the newspaper Green Left Weekly and has had a long involvement with the Aboriginal rights movement, including AbSchol and land rights campaign in WA in the 1970s, the campaign against Aborginal Deaths In Custody in Sydney in the 1980s. He has two daughters and two grandchildren.
