‘written in a time of revolution’

do you remember
when the wind chimes were still
the frog under the stone by the tap
spoke into the silence?

when the wind chimes were still
we heard footsteps, neither one
spoke into the silence
knowing our future.

we heard footsteps, neither one
hoping for a reprieve
knowing our future,
we leaned into an embrace.

hoping for a reprieve
that summer in Kalmae,
we leaned into an embrace
breathing in each other.

that summer in Kalmae
breathing in each other
when the wind chimes were still,
do you remember?
