‘We go for a swim to Gumbend Lake’ 

We go for a swim to Gumbend Lake,
take a skimpy picnic lunch,
munch on carrots and celery,
calorie conscious and aware
there are penalties for abundance.
Indulgence is not our thing,
bring nothing sweet, we had said,
Ted, the traitor, brought an apple pie,
deny ourselves we could not
and guilty we scoffed the lot.
