Waterloo Metro construction update

Excavation work continues across the whole of the station box area at the Waterloo station site.

Key activities during standard construction hours include:

  • Constructing a shed at the Wellington Street end of the site where equipment will operate within the structure to reduce noise.
  • Excavating twin portals at the Wellington Street site boundary with a road header, including rock bolting and concrete work within the excavated cavern.
  • Continuing the station box excavation, with excavators, bulldozers and a surface miner.
  • Installing ground support concrete and anchoring work, including spraying shotcrete to line the walls of the excavation area.

Low-noise-impact activities will continue until 10pm on weekdays and 6pm on Saturdays.
