Volunteers’ News – December 2020

What a year it’s been and with border restrictions easing many families and friends will be able to get together for the holiday period. In NSW up to 20 visitors may visit another household at any one time, and members of the household are not counted as visitors. Check-in at venues by giving contact details, or using electronic QR codes is mandatory, and it is advised to take the usual precautions when out and about.

Orchard Gallery – This Time opens on December 17 until January 31, 2021.
Artworks created in isolation are featured in this final show for 2020, curated by Catherine Skipper, our theatre editor. The gallery is at 56a Raglan Street, Waterloo, and you can view by ringing 0415 491 937.

Sydney Festival January 6-26
As outgoing festival director, Wesley Enoch says in his introduction to the 2021 program, “Sydney You Deserve a Festival” and I really think we do. There is the usual mix of music and musicals, circus, cabaret, talks and workshops and free entertainments. You can discover all events at https://www.sydneyfestival.org.au/explore

Catch up with these at South Sydney Herald online

Julia Jacklin & Friends at the Vanguard December 12 and 13
Julia (who features in our December 11 fun night and fundraiser) and friends Elizabeth Fader and Georgia Mulligan on the 12th, and Jacob Diamond and Solo Career on the 13th will perform Christmas songs and more in an intimate Covid-safe environment. All proceeds to Lou’s Place, Sydney’s only daytime women’s refuge.

Thank you to our volunteers for 2020
As the year comes to a close, and as this is our last issue for 2020, it’s time to say THANK YOU to South Sydney Herald’s wonderful volunteers. We should be back to full production for 2021. To thank all our dedicated and talented volunteers, there is a gift waiting for you at the Park Café on Chalmers in Redfern (opposite Woolworths) from now until the end of January 2021. Check with the café for opening times and dates 9699 1873.

Season’s best wishes to our contributors, distributors, editors, advertisers, readers and friends for a joyous holiday period and a safe, healthy and disaster-free New Year.

Until next time,
Pat Clarke
