‘True Cause’

Oh, to see what it sounds like
The dawn, the day rolling in
Through the bush on a push bike
The mist, a silence maudlin

Lifting with the sun
Lifting with the sun

How about believing in this world
Held together by the love of very few
People prayed for freedom as the fire purled
I was reaching for a cause that’s true

The dawn, the day coming in
Many forms the way forward
Graceful lines of James Baldwin
Yellow power of your word

Drifting with the sun
Drifting with the sun

How about believing in this world
Held together by the love of very few
People prayed for freedom as the fire purled
I was digging for a cause that’s true
