Nature, that great designer,
Presents her crystals in paradoxical form –
There’s the snowflake,
Born in the wild flurries of a blizzard,
Each fragile flake a unique exquisite design.
Yet it melts, dissolves away, even as it is formed.
No melting fragility for nature’s diamonds though –
Hardest of all substances.
Formed deep within a volcanic womb,
Diamonds inspire dreams of great fortune,
For the mercenary.
While lovers dream of love
That, like the diamond,
Will last forever.
