What sort of board do you ride? What sort of skating do you most enjoy?

My current setup consists of a Baker deck, size 8.25 inches, venture trucks, modus bearings and Spitfire wheels.

When I was younger I enjoyed a lot of street skating – namely rails, stairs and ledges throughout the city of Sydney. Favourite spots included the Martin Place stair sets, Chifley Square, North Sydney, and anything that looked reasonable at the time.

As I became older I started skating more parks. By that I mean skate parks such as Waterloo, Cammeray, Manly, Avalon. The environment was more skater friendly (no traffic, pedestrians, security guards). You could practise and refine your tricks with ease, and parks created a more relaxed environment for skating. These days I skate mostly at Waterloo (Fernside) and some street plazas, as well as some half-pipe or transition skating, my preference being for mini-ramps.

As I currently reside on the beach of Maroubra it would be fair to say that Maroubra skate park is my local. Other South Sydney parks include Waterloo (Fernside), Hunters Hill and Bondi, which are all great parks. Likewise there are great spots for street skating throughout southern Sydney. I like to skate the promenades on the beaches and find some nice ledges or an abandoned construction site in Alexandria – some of the factory areas can have incredible potential for street skating.

Are there skate events you have entered or enjoyed?

Throughout my time skating, from 2002 to the present, I have entered multiple competitions on Sydney’s northern beaches – Avalon and Manly Vale. Waterloo would hold prestigious competitions and would often have demo’s from skateboarding’s finest – putting on a show while hosting and sponsoring the event. Particular mentions go to Zoo York when they came to Waterloo, as well as Baker, Emerica, and Nike SB in 2014. I’ve enjoyed all the competitions, especially when skating in heats with friends, enjoying the ride and having fun, hopefully inspiring others.
