Increased social and affordable housing in Redfern

On September 10, the Independent Planning Commission approved he Independent Planning Commission has approved plans for an 18-storey social and affordable housing project on the corner of Marian and Gibbons streets in Redfern. St George Community Housing (SGCH) purchased the block from the City of Sydney in 2017 for a below-market value of $14.25 million.

The building will include one-, two- and three-bedroom units to provide 40 to 60 social housing units and 100 to 120 affordable housing units in the tower. The development will also include ground-floor retail, a SGCH management office as well as a community hub.
