the dream of pleasure
drifts around their bones …

skeletal fingers clutch,
let fall their dance cards
to smooth the watered silk
of fishtail gowns …

‘heavenly
to be dining,
to be dancing
and discreetly romancing,
so divine’

their bones shift and sigh,
amethyst and topaz
lift and sink
into rusting crevices,
scouring sand …
