‘bicycle boom’

out flies the glass
both far and wide
the curse has come
upon me Lambert cries

out flies the grid
and heavy metal frame
to the gathering public’s
rude acclaim

long and loudly rings
the desperate bell
and screaming fire trucks
arrive pell-mell

black smoke arises
in lethal clouds
keenly enjoyed
by watching crowds

firemen climb up
flight by flight
as tenants tumble
down in fright

now the concierge
reaches for his mike
settle down he shouts
just an exploding electric bike
