A big ‘thank you’ to our volunteers

GLEBE: SSH volunteers enjoyed a fun-filled picnic at Jubilee Park, Glebe Foreshore, on Sunday December 15.

Highlights of the picnic included relaxed conversation with friends new and old, scrumptious cupcakes and icy cold lemon drink, sack races, egg-and-spoon and three-legged races, and a thrilling ball-in-basket contest which saw Robyn Concannon achieve a perfect score! Thanks to Steve Turner, our sports editor, for coordinating the games. And thanks to Better Read Than Dead bookshop in Newtown for the prizes.

The SSH relies on volunteer editors and writers, photographers, visual artists, and distributors. The picnic was a great opportunity to bring volunteers together and thank them for their generous and expert community service.

Members of the South Sydney Uniting Church, which publishes the paper, also enjoyed the day. “It’s wonderful to meet some of the people behind the SSH. We see their names and appreciate their work in helping us to make a good, independent newspaper,” one congregant said. “I look forward to the next opportunity for us to get together.”
