Healthy start to better support services

The forum heard tenant voices via video and in person talking about their experience of, and aspirations for, a healthy and resilient community. It also heard area health officials talking about their services.

Day Two shifted focus to the proposed redevelopment and future needs. Throughout the event, table activities were held to unpack some of the issues and a dinner on the Thursday night provided an opportunity for people to meet across silos.

The event was a combined initiative of Sydney Local Health District (SLHD), Counterpoint Community Services, Inner Sydney Voice and REDWatch. Attendees included SLHD CEO Teresa Anderson, members of her board and senior staff.

The forum was the first step for SLHD in looking at how it better supports Waterloo tenants, how it brings a health lens to the redevelopment and how SLHD can work with LAHC, FACS and other agencies to provide improved service for people with complex needs who are allocated public housing in Waterloo and other estates.
