Ensure you remove all valuables from your vehicle – do not leave wallets, phones, laptop etc. in the vehicle – even if your vehicle is parked in a secured car park.
Do not leave personal papers such as licence or registration in your motor vehicle – these can be used for fraudulent purposes at a later date.
When you leave your car unattended, even for short periods, close all windows, remove the key from the ignition and ensure all doors are locked. Remember, it’s an offence under the Australian road rules to leave your car unlocked.
Be vigilant about people looking into vehicles parked on the street, or hanging around underground car park entrances. Do not confront these people – contact your local police station or Crime Stoppers.
