Pemulwuy was first planned with the office of the Government Architect, but in 2004 the Carr government would only fund it if the AHC signed over control of The Block. A struggle with Frank Sartor followed to get planning approval to build the 62 homes. Approval was gained in 2009 but funding was elusive until the current proposal.
Many people have played an important role. Col James, after whom the student housing will be named, is just one of them. The SSH has reported on the twists and turns for as long as it has existed.
