The island supports a diverse ecosystem where biologists are studying plants and animals to assess the effects of a warming climate and the growing presence of humans in the Arctic. Sergey collaborated with researchers and worked from shelters at the edge of the world’s largest snow goose breeding colony to shoot images of the geese without disturbing them. Arctic foxes have to be wily to nab the eggs – but this one succeeded! Sergey’s photo was chosen from almost 50,000 entries from 92 countries to tour the world.
