Mental Health Week – October 8-14

Mental Health Week is an annual national event to raise awareness of the importance of mental health and wellbeing in the whole community. Events in Sydney include the ever-popular Wellness Walk and Festival on October 16 organised by the Schizophrenia Fellowship of NSW. This is an easy walk across Sydney Harbour Bridge, finishing at Government House.

Chair Yoga in Alexandria Fridays 9.30-11.30am at Alexandria Town Hall,

Chair yoga is a gentle way to improve strength, flexibility whilst sitting, and includes guided meditation.

Canteen Bandana Day Fundraiser – Wednesday October 25

At Cliff Noble Community Centre, Corner Renwick and Suttor Streets, Alexandria from 9.30-11.30am. Cost is morning tea and pen $6; bandana $5. A local school choir will perform at 10.30am.

Marrickville Festival and Marrickville Library Book Sale – Sunday October 22

This year the Inner West Council is combining its highly popular Marrickville Festival with its annual Marrickville Library Book Sale. All books will be $1 for library members and $2 for non-members. Bookworms can stock up, as well as enjoy the cultural delights of Marrickville and Illawarra Roads.

Sculpture by the Sea – October 19 to November 5, 2017

This year celebrates the 21st annual exhibition of on the Bondi Beach to Tamarama Coastal Walk. There will be 100 sculptures by artists from Australia and around the world and the 2km sculpture park is reputed to be the largest free sculpture exhibition in the world.
