Transforming the streets of Surry Hills

Surry Hills was buzzing on November 2 for its second Sydney Streets this year, with Crown Street closed to traffic while thousands of locals and visitors enjoyed food, stalls, performances and more.

Kids were treated to face-painting, origami and a circus, while adults learnt Boomali weaving and got their tarot cards read.

Performers included a mime artist, Aboriginal drag performer-artist Nana Miss Koori, a Samba performance and the Glorious Sousaphonics meandering through the crowd.

Artist Johnny (Johannes) Geppert, who has featured in this newspaper, ran a collage workshop and displayed his works and a range of works by local artists.

Sydney Streets celebrates the City of Sydney’s neighbourhoods, transforming the streets of Surry Hills, Pyrmont, Darlinghurst, Redfern, Haymarket, Glebe and Potts Point into pedestrian havens for walking, shopping and dining.

You can read more, including dates for upcoming events in Pyrmont and Redfern this month, at https://whatson.cityofsydney.nsw.gov.au/programs/sydney-streets.
