Supergirl flies in her faded green shorts,
Supercool phantom in magic disguise,
She conquers the world with mystical thoughts,
Enchants with a look that can mesmerise,
All knowing, all seeing, with x-ray eyes,
Ethereal life-force, threadbare and worn,
Soaring, invincible power reborn.
But then, in a flash, her flights come to nought,
She plummets to earth, her wings cannot rise,
She must readjust, behave as she ought,
For in a neat fold, by her bedside lies
A new pair of shorts in garish green guise,
The aura dispels, she must do her best,
Be just a small girl, now sensibly dressed.
