Jayden Kitchener-Waters, a Gomeroi and Ngiyampaa singer – and NSW public servant – became the focus of public support after he was suspended for refusing to cover political messages on his guitar, including “No pride in genocide” and “Free Gaza,” ahead of a scheduled performance at NSW Parliament. His stance led supporters to organise a snap protest outside Parliament on 27 November – rallying against what they view as censorship and in defence of his right to express political and cultural messages.
