Find out how amazing it is to create your own artwork. Come and see Australia’s oldest and best-known independent sculpture school and a working sculpture studio in action. See our students and teachers creating works and demonstrating the skills they have learned here.
This year we celebrate the school’s 40th anniversary by our founder, Tom Bass AM. Tom Bass left more than a legacy. Sydney’s most eminent and prolific public sculptor of his time, Bass not only created great sculpture seen in prominent buildings and public places around Sydney, he has fostered three generations of artists!
He made sculpture that considered more than just technique or form, Bass sought to bring life into his work. That life now lives on through the teachers and students of his thriving studio school. Come see them at work!
Enjoy live music from the popular jazz manouche group, Spyglass Gypsies, and join us for a gourmet sausage sizzle. Plus see our special exhibition – “All Creatures Big and Small” – animals of the land, sea and air – works are available for purchase.
A not-for-profit organisation, Tom Bass Sculpture Studio School (TBSSS) is an integral part of the Sydney arts community. Supported by the City of Sydney, TBSSS provides scholarships for youth and disadvantaged people in addition to continuing Bass’s legacy of teaching sculpture to the wider community.
All are welcome. Come and see for yourself – become a sculptor too!
