The virtual simulation recreates Sydney Cove (Warrane), from Barangaroo to Woolloomoolloo, prior to the arrival of the First Fleet in 1788. The simulation uses embedded video, digital artefacts, interactive games techniques and digital recordings to enhance interactions with the environment and aid appreciation of the sacred connection the Gadigal had and still have for this area.
The foreshore and harbour environment of this virtual computer world are created with extraordinary accuracy and fine detail by creative director and multimedia artist, Brett Leavy, and his team of co-creators.
This is an Indigenous-led project by Brett Leavy – an immersive experience that should not be missed!
Technology is a clever tool. This is very realistic and stimulates imagination in a way history books do not. There are four large screens and individual consoles for public interaction. There are also artefacts on display on loan from the Australian Museum.
