NSW Winter School Holidays 6 July to 17 July

Plenty of winter activities these school holidays including Skate at Carriageworks, 245 Wilson Street, Eveleigh on Saturday 18 July from 10am-1pm for kids aged 6 and over. The precinct will become a fully equipped skate park with workshops, skate sessions and pro-skater demos and is free to attend. Registration and signed waivers are required for all sessions. Another session will also be held on August 15. Info: carriageworks.com.au

Bastille Festival, Thursday 16 July to Sunday 19 July, Circular Quay and The Rocks
Break out your berets and almost forgotten school French for four days of French food, wines, films and live performances. Info: bastillefestival.com.au

The Galloway Hoard, Treasures of the Viking Age, Australian National Maritime Museum until 11 October
Found on church land in Balmagie in south-west Scotland in 2014, the Hoard includes 5kg of silver, gold and other objects buried around AD 900 by Vikings.
I’m very excited to see these treasures, as they were discovered some 50-odd miles from where I grew up in Scotland.
Tickets: Adult $25/Family $69/Concession $20/Child $15 (4-15 yrs). There is a different price for See it All tickets which include vessels in the harbour.
