Gang of Youths – absolute joy!

Gang of Youths
Enmore Theatre
January 31, 2019

It’s not often an album resonates with you and makes you actually feel every gorgeous lyric sung.

As the band’s raw talent saw them undertake a world tour, with deserved global recognition, I patiently waited and hoped they would return for a much-anticipated Australian tour. My dreams were answered, with the first show at the Enmore announced, and I was online purchasing my ticket before I could even think who I was going to go with. I didn’t care, I was there.

So here I am, drink in hand, ready for my solo date night with my Gang of Youths.

The show opens with “Fear and Trembling”, the entire audience joining in. David Le’aupepe then takes to the piano for “Go Farther in Lightness”. The crowd enjoys the favourites such as “The Heart Is a Muscle”. I soon realise I’m not the only fan of this incredible band. So many people with just absolute joy on their faces, as David belts out their anthems.

David intoxicates us with his signature flamenco-style dancing for “Let Me Down Easy” – nothing better than a man who can dance. The show ends, and with the audience demanding an encore, the band return to the stage for a few more songs and end with the fist-to-heart “Say Yes to Life!”

Ok, it wasn’t really my date night with my Gang of Youths, but I was willing to share them with the rest of Sydney who clearly appreciate their absolutely beautiful songs and talent as much as I do.

Living with dementia – a carer’s journey: 11. End of journey

My darling Stuart passed away peacefully on August 27, 2024, the saddest day of my life. The funeral service was a beautiful tribute to his well lived life, thanks to funeral director Stephanie Kelly of www.personalfarewells.com.au, who delivered the service to perfection.
