While Street Side Medics, a not-for-profit, GP-led mobile medical service dedicated to people experiencing homelessness, has been providing clinics at OzHarvest Waterloo every Thursday, 10am-12noon since September 18, the official launch of the service was held on November 6.
Services provided include: general health check-ups, chronic disease screening, acute infectious screening, immunisations, pathology services, diagnosis and treatment of medical conditions, screening tests and Medicare care plans, nutritional advice, minor surgical procedures and referrals to appropriate medical specialists.
It is a Medicare bulk billing service, but for those without Medicare, they have a no-turn-away policy and will see all patients free of charge.
