Spring always heralds a huge amount of things to do in Sydney, and this October is no different.

Here is another blockbuster from AGNSW, this time featuring retrospective works from 50 Australian women artists, including Margaret Preston, Nora Heyson and Grace Cossington Smith, and others not so well known. Costs are: Adult $35, Concession $32. artgallery.nsw.gov.au

9th Annual Sydney Craft Week Festival October 10-19
Under the auspices of the Australian Design Centre, this festival includes more than 240 events over 37 suburbs, with a theme of material intelligence: emphasising intelligent use of materials for craft needs to consider environmental sustainability, including the lifecycle of material use.
No matter where you live, I’m sure you will find a craft maker or collective showing something innovative and beautiful. 30th Greek Film Festival, October 14-26
This year, the Festival will be showing retrospective films from the 1990s to more recent ones.
Venues are Palace Norton Street, Palace Moore Park and Riverside Theatre, Parramatta.

State Library of NSW – School Holidays
The NSW State Library is a wonderful experience for everyone, with history, art and other free exhibitions. There are also free activities for children during school holidays.

27th Annual Sculpture by the Sea October 17 to November 3
After fears the much-loved Sculpture by the Sea would be cancelled due to a major funding shortfall, organisers have confirmed the event will go ahead, thanks to a new partnership with NRMA Insurance and more than $125,000 in public donations. Info: sculpturebythesea.com
