Volunteers’ News – March 2023

Welcome to new volunteers
Say hello to our newest volunteers. Photographer John Abdul is passionate about community, and is keen to welcome PM Anthony Albanese to Redfern Park for a photo opportunity with his beloved Rabbitohs. John is a professional photographer and videographer with years of experience. He also loves gardening and cooking! Michelle Haywood is also a new volunteer photographer for the SSH. Take a look at her brilliant front-page pic and more Sydney WorldPride photos online. The talents of our volunteers never cease to amaze me!

Exhibition spotlights renter experiences
The Tenants’ Union is hosting a (free) one-night photo exhibition on March 9 (6.30-9.30pm) at Customs House. It celebrates the top photography from a state-wide photography competition the union ran which captures the human side behind the rental crisis currently gripping NSW. Art Gallery of NSW Sydney Modern
I finally made it to this newest and most glittering addition to the Sydney art scene. The building itself is magnificent and has a six-star Green design rating, and operates on 100 per cent renewable energy. There is a significant collection of First Nations art and to enter the Tank Gallery is a most unusual experience. Entry is free. Highly recommended – by me!

Wyanga Street Market
Wyanga Street Market on Thursday March 23, 10am to 3pm, outside 35 Cope Street or, if wet, inside the building.
