Candidate forums for Heffron and Newtown

The NSW State election is just around the corner and Friends of Erskineville is putting on candidate forums in collaboration with Alexandria Residents Action Group and REDWatch.

Be aware that there has been an adjustment of electorate borders. The redistribution now means that all of Erskineville is within the electorate of Newtown. You can check which electorate you’re in on the NSW Electoral Commission website here. At-a-glance boundary changes are also on the South Sydney Herald website here.

For those in Heffron electorate, the candidate forum is on Wednesday February 8 at 7pm. It will be held at Alexandria Town Hall in Garden St. More details here.

For those in Newtown electorate, it’s on Wednesday March 15 at 7pm, held at Erskineville Town Hall. More details here.

The candidates will give opening comments based on the top three issues determined by resident survey, followed by a Q&A from the audience. We will be sharing a survey link for the Newtown forum soon.

All officially registered candidates are invited. For Newtown we have confirmed attendance from Jenny Leong (Greens) and David Hetherington (Labor). There may be others. If you are a candidate and wish to participate, please email: friends@friendsoferskineville.org.

______________

Friends of Erskineville is a residents’ action group that meets at Erskineville Town Hall on the second Tuesday of the month at 7.30pm. https://www.facebook.com/friendsoferskineville

Eds note: The South Sydney Herald coverage of candidate profiles and platforms will appear in our March issue in print and online on March 7.
