“Improvised comedy at its fastest and funniest” is what’s promised as Theatresports returns to the Enmore Theatre for the final night of the Sydney Comedy Festival on Sunday May 22.
Locals Rebecca de Unamuno (Glebe), Lisa Ricketts (Newtown) and Ru Halwala (Chippendale) will feature with other “cream of the crop” performers directed by Theatresports legend Michael Gregory (Enmore) and MC-ed by Adam Spencer and Rob Carlton.
The stellar cast of improvising comedians will be challenged to make scenes, stories and songs up on the spot, with no rehearsal and no prep time. Ridiculous scenarios and quick-fire comedy will abound to bring audience long-overdue, pandemic delayed, belly laughs.
Other stars who’ll fly by the seat of their pants and spool out gags on the night include Amanda Buckley, David Callan, Ewan Campbell, Kate Coates, Daniel Cordeaux, Sarah Gaul, Scott Hall-Watson, Rob Johnson, John Knowles, Jeff Mesina, Kate Wilkins, Jioji Ravulo and Linette Voller.
Timekeeper Clare Cavanagh and Gep Blake (Improvising Musical Maestro) will also keep everyone on track and tuned tight.
The Sydney Comedy Festival is Sydney’s biggest annual comedy event. From April 25 to May 22, hundreds of the finest Australian comedians, biggest international stars and most-promising emerging comics will take to stages across Sydney for a month of comedy.
Local venues include the Enmore Theatre in Newtown, the Factory Theatre in Marrickville, the Seymour Centre in Chippendale, the Manning Bar in Camperdown, the Comedy Store in Moore Park and the Sydney Opera House in Circular Quay.
Theatresports, presented by the Sydney Comedy Festival 2022 and Impro Australia, will cap off the festival; a fun night for friends and family.
