Dive deep with the Sea Museum’s holiday program

The whole family can dive deep into discovery in April thanks to a packed school holiday program at the Australian National Maritime Museum in Darling Harbour.

Exhibitions, vessels, hands-on workshops, immersive installations, themed creative activities and more are on offer from Saturday April 9 to Sunday April 24.

The April holiday program includes:

Aquatic Imaginarium – interactive play with artmaking, science experiments and sensory spaces, open daily.

Ocean Lab – drop in discovery space, open daily.

Activity Trail – self guided, available every day.

Creative Workshops – full day filmmaking, art and science workshops, selected dates.

Mini Mariners Tour – for under 5s, selected dates.

Underwater Drones Workshops – 30-minute private sessions in piloting an underwater ROV, ages 9+, selected dates.

You can craft a boat sculpture, meet the pint-sized planet protectors that save our seas, discover beautiful works related to caring for Country by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists, explore the world beneath the surface and capture underwater footage using our drones … there’s something for everyone.

Sensory-Friendly Sundays

On Sunday April 24 (one of three Sensory-Friendly Sundays) the museum’s new exhibitions and activity areas will open extra early for a quieter experience that is modified to suit people on the autism spectrum and visitors with a range of differing abilities. Trained staff and volunteers will be on hand to facilitate creative activities.

During this session the museum is also offering special access to the AQUATIC IMAGINARIUM between 8.30 am and 10 am for Sensory-Friendly Sunday guests.

There is also a March session (on March 13), during which the museum is offering special access to HMAS Onslow and The Cape Bowling Green Lighthouse and a May session, which offers special access to the galleries including Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2022 exhibition.

Both of these sessions are offered between 8.45 am and 10 am for Sensory-Friendly Sunday guests.
