Listening to the people of Greater Sydney

Uniting is taking part in Postcode2020, an ambitious project of listening to the wishes and needs of communities across Greater Sydney.

It’s a project of the Sydney Alliance, a diverse coalition of community organisations, religious organisations, unions and schools that work together to make our city a better place to live and work in.

The project will conduct events in all 254 postcodes in Greater Sydney – to bring people together where they live or work to talk about their aspirations or concerns for that local community.

Each discussion will be hosted by Sydney Alliance members – like Uniting. The events will help identify potential community leaders and provide a great chance to meet people in your local community.

Postcode2020 will take place in the first half of 2020 and will feed into the Alliance’s future plans and activities – not only on existing campaigns like affordable and secure housing, household energy and people seeking asylum, but also to identify possible new campaign areas.

To do this well, we need to find potential local leaders to chair or help behind the scenes to organise a postcode event in their own residential postcode and/or in a postcode they know well through their work. Leaders will receive training and support from the Sydney Alliance team.
