Last day at Appetite Cafe

“At Appetite you can just be yourself,” said one longtime patron. “You can wear whatever you like, stay as long as you need. I really value the friendships I’ve made here. It always makes me feel better to drop in, even if it’s just for a takeaway.”

“I am quite particular when it comes to coffee,” said another, “and this coffee is my favourite – Roger sees me coming and has a cup ready as soon as I sit down!”

Roger Xu and his wife Jessica have managed the cafe for the past five years. They have maintained a proud tradition of genuine welcome and care – following on from former landowner Marcello and proprietors Leanne, Aydin and Lyn.

Jessica’s hand-written farewell to “beautiful regulars”, posted on the glass door of the cafe, refers to Appetite as a “second home” for the couple and their young family. The message continues: “There are no words that clearly express the love and gratitude we feel for our staff that worked so hard to keep the vision alive … We wish everyone the best luck … and look forward to life-long friendship with you.”

Roger and Jessica hope to reopen the cafe in a nearby location in the near future. It is a hope shared by many.
