As well as employing its own staff in a variety of projects in South Sydney, Counterpoint is also home to many other agencies and community groups that all work together as one team with a shared cause.
The most recent celebration this month was for Uncle Bruce Shillingsworth for his ten years’ service with the Barnardos team located at Yurungai Learning Centre.
Bruce said, “I came to Sydney 11 years ago from Brewarrina and have been here ever since and love it.”
Bruce’s manager Vivian Freeman of Barnardos, who has also been working in the area for over 13 years, noted, “We all love working in the community, watching our next generation becoming our next leaders. Bruce is a great asset to Yurungai Learning Centre.”
This year Counterpoint also recognised John Ferguson for ten years’ service as our accountant; Margaret Wood for 15 years at Poet’s Corner Preschool; Raeleen O’Halloran for 20 years at Poet’s Corner Preschool; Naomi Ward for 20 years at Poet’s Corner Preschool and the Waterloo Recycle Workshop; Dianne Rodgers (the real boss at the Factory!) for 24 years as caretaker and hospitality, in addition to working with Yurungai.
As their Executive Officer, I’ve just reached ten years of service in October. I credit the team’s longevity to great teamwork, sound principles and the shared dedication of working with and for this great community.
