ALEXANDRIA: Children from Camp Australia’s before- and after-school care service at Alexandria Park Community School (APCS) have posted 1.2kg of bread tags to an organisation in South Australia and are continuing to collect tags at a fast rate.
NSW government separated the Metro Quarter’s progress from the redevelopment of the adjacent Waterloo Estate.
The Sydney Story Factory has been working with Martha Austin’s senior primary school students at Alexandria Park Community School during the last school term. Sebastian Wooldridge explained: “We have been making posters to support making a lift at Redfern station. It’s important as Redfern station is one of the stations that has the most steps and if an elderly person gets off they have to walk up the stairs.”
ALEXANDRIA: Alexandria Park Community School this year celebrates its 10th anniversary, with some very impressive results. In just one year last year the school leapt from 583rd place in the HSC rankings to 66th! The school’s highest performing students were local students from the Mainstream classes.
ALEXANDRIA: Robert Bruce, Acting Principal of Alexandria Park Community School, spoke recently about the initiative to create community gardens within an inner-city school. He said: “A lot of our kids live in the local area and do not have access to gardens in their home environment.”
REDFERN: The National Centre of Indigenous Excellence was host to four-time Australian Olympian Lauren Jackson and Basketball Australia CEO Kristina Keneally on Monday August 20. Patriotic youth and community members gathered to support Jackson, the Australian flag-bearer, as she returned home from the London Games.
