Adam Goodes deserves respect. In light of the blatant racism towards Goodes, the AFL needs to manage the cultural crisis on its hands.

Holiday program involves IT volunteers

REDFERN: On April 9 the National Centre of Indigenous Excellence (NCIE) launched its school holiday program providing fun, educational and engaging activities for six to 12 year olds in the Redfern area. The launch featured a presentation by, a computer company whose Foundation’s financial and practical support played a key role in the holiday activities.

Building bridges in Erko

In March 2006 the SSH featured a story on the fifth annual Back to Erskineville Reunion. The event, organised by friends Pam Carter nee Butt, Dawn Dempsey nee Hammond and Betty Kane nee Hammond, is intended as something more than a mere “walk down memory lane”. It’s about honouring the past, honouring connections to significant places and between people. This year, on Sunday February 10, Pam, Dawn and Betty were again at Erskineville Oval, and later for refreshments at the Alexandria-Erskineville Bowling Club, for the twelfth annual gathering of friends. “It’s about bringing people together,” Betty said.

Swans combine for Kool Kids

Sydney Swans pair Adam Goodes and Lewis Jetta teamed up for some terrific goals in season 2012, and now they’re aiming to combine for another – to help keep the doors open at Weave’s Kool Kids Club in Waterloo.

Jets roar over Tigers

Before a big crowd at ANZ Stadium two foundation clubs clashed in the NSW Cup rugby league grand final at midday on September 30. The Jets played strong. The Balmain Ryde-Eastwood Tigers, who finished the regular season in eighth position, just one place behind Newtown, played strong.
